A Whole New World - Update from Dee
Well it has been a while hasnt it. Sorry everyone.
If i was to update all that has been going on I
would be typing for the rest of the day so here's
a quick recap.
April 4, 2009 Darren and I tied the knot on the
infield at Premier Speedway, Warrnambool, Vic.
What a fantastic day. Gavin White did the honours
for us, reading from a Premier Speedway Program
in front of the V52 Sprintcar. It was a casual,
fun filled day and we really appreciate everyone
for helping us celebrate our special day. I am
now offically Deanne Mollenoyoux.
If you wish to see any photos of the "Wedding of
the Century" go to FaceBook. Wade Aunger was our
photographer and did a FANTASTIC job.
Before all this took place I had decided to
officailly retire from racing Formula 500's. And
to be honest, I do not regret it one bit.
Everything is in Far North Queensland with my dad
and is for sale. The car is finally sorted out of
its previous bugs and ready to race. It is a bit
of a shame that I feel I do finally have the
car/engine package that I wished for a few years
back (in my wonder years) but to be honest, I no
longer have the ambition or desire to put them to
use. I have lost my racing "fire" which used to
put me to the front, I simply dont care about
winning anymore so definately a good time to hang
the helmet. This does not mean I have lost my
love of motorsport all together.......My KX125 is
my new obsession and I find it as a whole lot
more bang for buck. Good, cheap fun. I can be
found on my bike most weekends, good times.
Speaking of Good Times. My Sprintcar
racing "husband" had a fantastic season this year
(aside from the start and demolishing a few
engines) and brought the V52 home in second place
for the Victorian Eureka Sprintcar Series.
Champion!! He also scored for the year, Victorian
Aggrigate 2nd, Best Presented Car and Crew and
Most Heat Wins. Not to mention a 3rd in the
Easter Sprintcar Trail at Premier. It was
fantastic seeing him up on the podium with Robbie
Farr and Max Dumesny. It was a great year for
podiums for him but there is a time in every
drivers career that they simply have to step back
and priorotize. He will be taking the next year
or two off to consentrate on his business (Swift
Racing Products) and family (I want a bigger
house, lol) Unfortunately racing a Sprintcar
takes up a lot of valuable time and not to
mention money. We just need to "pit" for a little
while. However as a "celebration" of his
successful year, and also a big thank you to his
crew. Darren and a few other drivers took their
cars out to Premier Speedway for a fun day. This
was a day where crew and family (and whoever else
you wished to bring along) could purchase a "day
licence) and have a go at driving the Sprintcar
around one of the most historical and prestigious
tracks in the country. A great time was had by
all. It was hard to wipe the smiles off Darrens
crew all day. I was lucky enough to share in the
fun too. Although it was not my first experience
in a Sprintcar, it was a buzz to be racing around
that track (which I hold very dear to my heart)
in a 410ci Sprintcar. It was always a dream of
mine to do so although in much different
circumstances. I guess that was the closest I am
ever going to realize old dream. How lucky am I?
So thats pretty much my last 6 months. We are
heading to USA for our honeymoon in August (yep,
you guessed right, it will include the Knoxville
Nationals) so Im sure Ill have much more news
after that.
Take care
xoxo
